My favorite holiday is the 4th of July which is independence day in America. It is when everyone wears red white and blue (the colors on the flag) and we get together with our family. I go to my aun’ts house and hang out with my cousins. We play sports like baseball, basketball and soccer and when we get hot, we jump in the pool. I think that is the most fun because we make the pool full of waves and play games and stuff. We have hot dogs and hamburgers and other picnic foods like potato and macaroni salad. It is so much fun!! The best part is when we lay down a giant blanket on the ground which all the kids sit on and we watch the fireworks light up the sky. They are all so beautiful and its so much fun to sit with my baby cousins and let them laugh everytime the fireworks sound. Sometimes we get bored and liven the party up by throwing icecubes at eachother and putting them down other peoples backs. It is really cold!!

Nadine inspired me too write about why i like blogging. Here is my answer

the main reason i like blogging is because it lets you interact with people all over the world. It is so cool to see what other peoples culture and what it is like in the other place without having to visit it. You can also tell what differences the people have from you like if they talk in a different accent or say thing differently. This happened to me because some people say that they are in year 7 for instance but where i live people say grade 7. it got me really confused but i eventually caught on. =] I also love going on the computer because you can talk to your friends and send emails and stuff like that. So, have a great time blogging!!

I can’t decide about what the best thing about where i live is because there are so many great things about. I like the weather, the scenery and that we have so much freedom. I like that our weather varies so much that we have snow, sun, rain and nice weather all the time. Its also good because we dont have tornadoes or tsunamis or anything dangerous like that. The snow is always so beautiful when its all over the ground and on the trees. I personally love haveing snowball fights with my neighbors and building snowman. Sledding is also a lot of fun because i have a huge hill in my front yard that i go surfing on ( which is like when i stand on the sled and go downhill). Even though it sounds dangerous , it is so much fun!! I also love going in the swimming pool and having fights with water guns. =]
Our school is unique because we use a lot of technology. we have used podcasts, blogs wikis and so much more. Our teachers are also very creative and different than most. Our school and our country are very unique.

Our Teacher wanted us to write a 500 word response to a post on Tim Holt’s Blog. The Question is: Why should we use Technology?

Here is an Answer From a kids perspective-

Technology is an important aspect of our everyday lives whether it is computers, cameras, microphones, cell phones or video games. You need technology to survive in what is known as the “real world” in schools. Jobs require you to have a lot of knowledge on the subject of technology. In almost every career, you will use a computer or some type of machinery. This is using technology. If you have a job as a Doctor, the technology you use can save lives. Therefore it is very important and necessary. Even in jobs that don’t use technology to save lives, it’s still present. Accountants and Secretaries use computers and other types of technology to manage finances, organize data and schedule appointments. Dentists are another example of a person who uses a vast amount of technology every day. Between all the Automatic tooth brushes to the x- ray machines, there is so much technology. Every business uses technology such as phones, beepers and pagers. Even in schools, you have to know how to use a computer to type papers and research information using the internet. Currently our world depends on technology and the types of technology we use are changing every day. In the last 100 years we have come up with a large number of inventions that use technology such as calculators, computers, electronic organizers, PDAs, GPS Navigation systems, MP3 Players, I pods and so much more. Our world is evolving into a world based on technology, so it is very useful. Instead of using things such as pencils and paper like we did in the past we are using bigger and better items that are technologically advanced. In our class we use tons of technology. Wikis, Podcasts and Blogs are only a few ways that we incorporate the technology into our classroom. Because we use this, we are able to communicate with people around the world. If we didn’t have technology, we wouldn’t even know about the other countries and places and all the different cultures within them. I definitely think that technology should be used in education. It is so much fun and it makes you more knowledgeable. During this year, i have not only learned how to use wikispaces, podcasts, viddler, video maker, blogs, scanners, voice threads, microphones and more, but i have become a faster typer (well at least i think so). Typing is a necessity to every day lives from school to work. Communication is also a very important skill to have. I’ve been blogging with many students in Australia, and New Zealand. On my wikispace and blogs i have an application that allows me to see how many people visit my blog and where they’re from. So far my blog and wikispace have gotten views from United Kingdom, Australia, Argentina, Minnesota, Thailand, Kansas, North Carolina, Taiwan, Sweden, Egypt and many more.I think that it is awesome that not only one person can see my work and thoughts, but the whole world can!

All in all, Technology is great. It is our past present and future and it is important to be able to use.

Good question. Here goes:Well, when i think of “The United States” it makes me think of peace and beautiful places, like Hollywood! It makes me think of countries and states that are good friends and that respect each other and work hard to make their country a fabulous place.
The symbols I’d use would be the flag of course, and
also the colors of America. I’d also use some famous faces too maybe. To show the famous people of America because there are many actors and singers there!! I’d also use pictures of Americans holding hands and being friends showing peace.
And that is all i can think of!!
